DISCUSSION TEXT - SHOULD INDEPENDENT EXAM BE DELETED???

            In XII grade, we should know that we have to prepare and plan our next study. All of us, as a student from Senior High School should continue our next study to the university or institute. It is happy for us and our parents, when we can continue our next study to the state university. To enter the state university, there are many ways. There are SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Independent Exam. Every year, the policy of government about the rule to accept new university students, always change and make pros and cons, the example is about there is or there is not independent exam to enter state university always be a controvertion.

Independent exam should be deleted, because:

-          Reputed just for rich people

To pass this exam, the candidate of new student must fill how much they can contribute finance of state university with embrondening  fee.

-          Related with black way and corruption

Independent exam needs much money. There are places in university which can be bought by rich people. For example, to enter the faculty of medicines, it requires more than 500 million. It is too much, and we don’t know how the money is functioned. For corruption maybe, we don’t know because it isn’t transparency.

-          Causing social jealousy

In the fact, rich people easily enter the state university with this way, because of their money. The opposite, poor people hardly enter the state university with this way.

            Independent exam should not be deleted, because:

-          Accommodation the potential of people in its region

SNMPTN and SBMPTN just accept the new student of university according to grades and nationally. Then, SNMPTN and SBMPTN don’t accommodate the potential of people in the region of the state university.

-          Be the last way to enter state university

Without independent exam, the candidate who is not accepted in SNMPTN and SBMPTN can’t continue their study in state university. They must continue to non-state university which is more expensive or try SBMPTN in the next year. It is so waste money and time.

-          Fill the finance of university

According to the data, government gives a little money to fill the finances of the state university. ITB is given about 175 billion by government, beside the sum of operational is about 700 billion and the lack of fee there supported by alumnus and other trade with industrials, because ITB doesn’t open independent exam to enter in. It is different with UB and UNAIR, which open this way to accept 20% of the new student and to fill its finance requirement.

            So, there is or there is not independent exam to enter state university, depends on the finance situation of each state university. And remember, that independent exam shouldn’t be useless with black way and corruption.
